
Cards Fall in Home Finale

Louisville, Ky. - The Cardinals fell 73-61to DePaul on Sunday afternoon at Cardinal Arena for their final home game of the season. Lori Nero and Sara Nord led the Cardinals with 13 points each. Amanda Wolke followed with 12. Four DePaul players scored in double figures with Jenni Dant leading the way with 18.
The Blue Demons jumped out to a 14-3 lead over the first seven minutes. Dant opened the game with a three-pointer and was followed Sarah Kustok and Ashley Luke with treys of their own.
After falling behind 16-5, Louisville held DePaul scoreless for a five minute stretch with a 8-0 run to get within three at the 7:43 mark.
With 1:41 remaining in the half, Nord was called for a foul and then a technical that pushed DePaul up 34-23 with just over a minute remaining. DePaul finished the half with a 36-25 lead.
The second half was even as DePaul outscored the Cardinals, 37-36. A free throw by Sabrina Minter cut the lead to 38-29 with 17:44 left, but that was as close as the Cards would get. Dant's second trey of the game with just under five minutes left gave DePaul their largest lead of the game at 67-50.
Louisville will finish out the season on the road. The Cards will play Saint Louis at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28.
