
Softball Signs California Standout

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- - University of Louisville softball coach Sandy Pearsall has announced that Brooke McCrain has signed a national letter-of-intent to continue her softball career at the University of Louisville in the fall of 2004.
McCrain, a senior center fielder from Clovis West High School in Fresno, Calif., has earned several honors including first team all-city, first team all-conference and was named to the all-area team as well as the Pacific Coast Regional all-tournament team. As a junior, she batted .364, with six home runs, 22 RBI and hit a grand slam to help her team win the league championship game.
Her high school team was ranked as high as sixth in the state and 17th in the nation by Student Sports Magazine. Her club team, the Fresno Force placed seventh in the Gold nationals.
"We are excited to have Brooke join our team," said Pearsall. "She will bring both power and speed to our offense. We look forward to her aggressive style of play and her desire to excel."
The University of Louisville softball team will open the 2004 season at Florida State's Seminole Classic Feb. 6-8.
