Lexington, Ky. - The University of Louisville's Meghan Little won her second straight tournament on Sunday at the Wildcat Fall Invitational. Two weeks ago Little won the Louisville Cardinal Cup and followed that performance up with another win. Little shot a 78 in the final round and tied Vanderbilt's Chris Brady with a score of 227.
On the first playoff hole, Little hit her tee shot straight down the middle. Her second shot went on the green about 30 feet from the hole. She two-putted for par and the title. This was not the first time Little won in a playoff, she won the Kentucky Open title earlier this summer in a three-hole playoff.
"I started out a little slow today," said Little. "But I came back with three straight birdies and was one under. I struggled a bit after that but a birdie at my second to last hole helped put me in this position. I was glad we had a playoff because I felt I could do better. I am just glad I had the chance and was able to win, it feels good."
The Cardinals moved up another spot to finish tied for 7th with a score of 964. Vanderbilt won the tournament after shooting an impressive 303 in the final round, finishing with a score of 926. Mississippi State finished second with a score of 941 and UNC Wilmington finished third with a score of 946.
Freshman Katie Tewell moved up after shooting a 77 today and finished tied for 13th with a score of 236. Junior Ali Wright posted her best score of the tournament, shooting a 79 in the final round to finish tied for 48th. Freshman Amy Yeates finished tied for 67th.
Freshman Cristina Gonzalez competed as an individual and finished tied for 70th while Jaime Bentley finished 93rd.
