Women's Tennis Participates in IU Invitational

The University of Louisville Cardinals had a strong showing at the Indiana Invitational in Bloomington with Christina Gogol making it to the finals of Flight E and the doubles team of Julia Hierl and MacKenzie Mekus finishing fifth in Doubles Flight 2.
Gogol beat Jessica Loose from Eastern Michigan and Hilary Tyler from Iowa to advance to the finals in Flight E where she was edged by Murray State's Casady Pruitt 6-4, 6-2.
Julia Hierl lost her first round in the Singles Flight D against Martina Grimm of Indiana but blew by Jennifer Ward of Murray State 6-0, 6-0. Hierl was defeated by Ericka Josbena of Missouri 6-3, 6-7, 1-0 (10-8) in the fifth place match. Hierl combined with Mekus in Doubles Flight 2 where they lost their first round match against Missouri 8-2 but won their second match against Murray State 8-6. The pair then beat Marijana Adzic/Jessica Loose 8-6 to clinch fifth place.
Paige Eber and Natalie Laszowksi both had a pair of wins in Round Robin Play before losing the third. Mekus beat a Bonnie White from LSU before falling to Christina Hall of Murray. She rebounded nicely with a 7-6, 6-1 over Adzic.
