
Cards Topple TCU 78-62

Louisville, Ky. - Four Cardinals scored in double figures as Louisville defeated TCU 78-62 Sunday afternoon in Freedom Hall. Amanda Wolke led all scored with 14 points. Nina Simotes scored 13, Lori Nero added 12 and Sara Nord had 11. Tiffany Evans led TCU with 13 points.
Louisville went on a 20-9 run midway through the first half to go up 38-24 with just over two minutes remaining in the first half. Simotes nailed three from behind the arc in the run. The Cards went into the lockerroom with a 43-27 lead at the half.
TCU came out in the second half and attacked the Cardinal defense. With 12:19 remaining, TCU's Sandora Irvin cut the lead to 54-46 with a layup. Louisville head coach Martin Clapp called a timeout and Nero scored three straight baskets, sparking a 17-5 Cardinal run to go ahead 73-51 with 3:19 remaining.
Louisville finished the game shooting 42.9 percent from the field and holding TCU to just 35.6 percent. The Cards a 40-37 rebounding advantage.
