
Men's Soccer Defeats UNC-Asheville 3-1

Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's soccer team defeated UNC-Asheville 3-1 Sunday afternoon in Cardinal Park. The Cardinals improve to 2-2 on the season while the Bulldogs fall to 1-3.
Cardinal freshman Jelani Grant got the Cardinals on the board in the 24th minute. Grant scored off a cross from sophomore Matt Rose. Then five minutes later Rose dribbled the ball in to score unassisted to put the Cards up 2-0 at the break.
Just two minutes into the second half newcomer Felipe Tolomelli scored off a cross from his twin brother Fernando Tolomelli. The Bulldogs' Greg Garrison scored off an assist from Logan Meadow in the 68th minute to put them on the board.
Cardinal keeper David Gisler registered one save on the day while Bulldog keeper Andrew Heath recorded four saves.
In the earlier game, Western Kentucky defeated Radford 4-0 to take the Seelbach-Hilton Cardinal Classic title. Western's keeper Daryl Sattler earned Defensive MVP honors and Ben Buerger won Offensive MVP honors. Joining Buerger and Sattler on the all-tournament team for Western were Richard Mupfudze and Ron Plute.
Radford's Mike Von Esser, T.J. Rolfing and Mark Crowder earned all-tournament honors. Louisville's Matt Neely and Adrian Cann earned all-tournament honors while UNCA's Greg Garrison and Barrett Locke rounded out the all-tournament team.
The Cardinals will travel to Bloomington, Ind. to face No. 4 Indiana on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 7:00 p.m.
