
Hughes Named Mid-American Conference Player of the Week

Cleveland, Ohio - University of Louisville field hockey player Kim Hughes was named Mid-American Conference Player of the Week for the period ending Sept. 29. It marks the second time this season Hughes has earned MAC Player of the Week honors.
The sophomore defender from Adelaide, Australia, scored the game-winner on a penalty stroke in Louisville's 2-1 win over No. 10 Kent State and dished out an assist to tie the game in the Cardinals' 3-2 double overtime win against Ohio University. She currently leads the team in goals with five, assists with five and points with 15. She is second in the league in points. Hughes earned 2001 MAC Freshman of the Year honors.
The eleventh-ranked Cardinals (6-3, 2-0 MAC) will play host to Indiana Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at Trager Stadium.
