LOUISVILLE, KY - The TCU Horned Frogs scored twice in the first half and held on for a 2-1 win over the University of Louisville in women's soccer action Sunday at Cardinal Park.
"We just did not come out and play," said Cardinal Head Coach Karen Ferguson.
"We put ourselves in a 2-0 hole and we were never able to come out of it."
After Louisville's Lisa Martin nearly put the Cards up 1-0 just :18 seconds into the game, TCU's Lauren Siepiela put the Horned Frogs(2-6-3, 1-2-1) up a little over two minutes later when she headed in a cross from Elizabeth Walsh.
In the 39th minute, Stephanie Rassette also converted on an assist from Walsh to give TCU a 2-0 advantage.
Martin put Louisville on the board in the 49th minute when she advanced in and beat TCU keeper Ruth DeJong making it 2-1.
After being outshot 8-5 in the first half, the Cards pressured the Frogs for 10 shots in the second half, to TCU's six. Despite a late flurry, the Cards(3-5-1, 1-2-1) could never tally the equalizer.
Martin, the teams' leading scorer had five shots, while Mandy Rost added a pair. Meredith Miller made five saves in the match, while DeJong had nine stops.
The Cards will be back in action on Tuesday, October 2nd, when they host Murray State at 5:00 p.m. at Cardinal Park. Louisville will be at Morehead State on Saturday, October 6th for a 1:00 p.m. match. All games at Cardinal Park are free to the public.
