Cardinal Men Place Sixth at Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Freshman Tim Kaiser placed 24th to lead the University of Louisville men's cross country team to a sixth-place finish at the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic Saturday morning at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park. The event was hosted by the Greater Louisville Sports Commission.
Malone College won the 27-team event with 86 points, narrowly edging Rend Lake by one point. Cedarville was third (97), followed by Berea (152), Southern Illinois (152) and Louisville (178). Cedarville's Sergio Reyes won the 8000-meter race with a time of 24:59.10.
Kaiser ran the course in 26:42.96 to lead the Cardinals for the second straight meet. Sophomore Brian Hurst finished 34th with a time of 26:58.91, while senior Mike Horan was right behind him in 26:59.44. Senior Tim Franxman (44th) and freshman Kyle Bowling (49th) also recorded top-50 finishes.
Louisville returns to action Saturday when it hosts the Cardinal Cross Country Classic at the U of L Shelby Campus.
