
Men's Cross Country Team Finishes Ninth at Navy Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The University of Louisville men's cross country team received some strong performances from a pair of freshmen as the Cardinals finished ninth at the Navy Invitational Saturday in Annapolis, Md.
Louisville finished with 251 points in the 15-team event. Host Navy won the event with 30 points, followed by American (70), Canisius (88) and Maryland (106).
Freshman Tim Kaiser led the Cards with a 35th-place finish after running the 8000-meter course in 26:11.41. Fellow classmate Chris Davis placed 50th with a time of 26:55.87 to round out the Cardinals' top-50 finishers.
U of L senior captains Mike Horan and Tim Franxman placed 55th and 60th, respectively.
Navy's Aaron Lanzel led a 1-2-3 sweep of the host team to win the race with a time of 24:44.82.
Louisville returns to action Sept. 28 when it competes in the Greater Louisville Classic. The event, hosted by the Greater Louisville Sports Commission, will be held at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park.
