
Young Earns Conference USA Postgraduate Scholarship Award

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville track and field senior Trish Young was named as a recipient of a Conference USA Postgraduate Scholarship Award Monday.
The league annually presents six $4,000 Postgraduate Scholarship awards to graduates as selected by the Faculty Athletics Representatives at the conference's annual spring meetings.
Young compiled a 3.91 undergraduate GPA and a 4.0 graduate GPA as she obtained her bachelor's degree in exercise science and sports medicine and a master's in exercise physiology from U of L. The two-time Conference USA Scholar-Athlete of the Year and two-time C-USA javelin champion finished second in the event at the 2002 C-USA Championship.
Young, who holds the school record in the javelin with a throw of 160 feet, 10 inches, was a three-year captain for the Cardinals and won the Ed Kallay Award, U of L's highest honor to a graduating senior.
A member of Phi Kappa Phi and Golden Key National Honor Societies, Young was also active in community service through CardsCARE, the Student-Athlete Advisory Council and as a physiotherapy volunteer at Floyd Memorial Hospital.
