Cardinal Rowers Win Three Races at Cincinnati Regatta

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The University of Louisville women's rowing team won all three races Saturday at the Cincinnati Regatta. The event was held on Lake Harsha at East Fork State Park.
The Varsity 8+ squad picked up a pair of wins on the day. In the morning's race, the Cardinals won the 2000m race with a time of 7:48.5, beating St. Joseph's by 11 seconds.
The Cards' Varsity 8+ squad returned to action in the afternoon and won an exciting four-boat race with a time of 7:26.3. After leading for most of the race, the Cardinals dropped to third place three-quarters of the way into the course before sprinting ahead in the final 50 meters to win their second race by 1.8 seconds over West Virginia.
Coxswain Christy Ochsner guided the Cardinals' squad, which consisted of Allison Kemphaus, Ashley Spence, Leslie Walters, Lucy Svehla, Carmen Noltemeyer, Stephanie George, Brooke Spence and Nikki Lee.
In the Novice 4+ race, the Cardinals ran away with a win in 9:15, topping Eastern Michigan by 24 seconds.
Coxswain Diana Golub led the Novice 4+ squad of Andrea Murray, Holly Tomkins, Tabitha Thomas and Karen Bramer.
The Cards return to action Sunday when they race Cincinnati at 10 a.m.
