Cardinals Win Four Events at Mt. SAC Relays

WALNUT, Calif. - The University of Louisville women's track and field team entered four athletes at the Mt. SAC Relays and all four came away with first-place finishes in their respective heats over the weekend in Walnut, Calif.
The event, hosted by Mt. San Antonio College, is one of the largest track meets in the nation, with nearly 100 colleges participating as well as club teams from around the world.
Senior Alicia Cavender won the 1500m with a personal-best and Conference USA-best time of 4:30.87. Twenty-five runners competed in the heat.
Freshman Kelley Bowman tied her own school record in the high jump with a first-place height of 5-8.75. Bowman set the U of L record on Friday.
Senior Shola Kadiri captured her shot put heat with a throw of 48-2. Kadiri has won the event four times this spring.
Senior Trish Young won the javelin with a season-best distance of 151-10. She won the event by four feet.
On the men's side, senior John Wawrysh placed seventh in the discus with a throw of 162-5.
The Cardinals return to action Friday when they host the Cardinal Open at the Cardinal Park Track Stadium.
