LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell to DePaul University 5-2 in Conference USA action Saturday at the Bass Rudd Tennis Center in the last regular season match of the year.
"This was a very good effort," said head coach Meg Peavy. "This is one of the top teams in the Conference and we had opportunities to pull off a win. We are excited to be peaking at the right time. We had a good performance week gearing up for the C-USA Tourney next week."
The Cardinals dropped the doubles point with the doubles pair of Kelly Kiehna and Paige Eber coming closest, falling 8-5 to Megan Stewart and Rachel Dybas at No. 3.
In singles, Julie Penn stayed ahead of Kadi Hilpus at No. 3 and won 7-5, 6-4. Freshman Kelly Taylor continued her winning ways with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Stephanie Matko.
"Kudos to Julie, she is playing really great right now and so did our great little freshman," said Peavy.
