
Women's Tennis Upends Xavier 4-3

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville women's tennis battled back after dropping the doubles point to beat Xavier University 4-3 at Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
"We fought hard for four hours and we turned the corner and pulled off the win. I am very proud of the team and how they hung on for the win," said Meg Peavy, U of L head coach.
The turning point came when No. 4 singles player, Kelly Taylor battled to a three-set win after dropping the first set.
"We were down after dropping the doubles point and when she pulled that out we had renewed energy," said Peavy.
In all, the Cardinals won No. 3-6 singles with No. 3 Julie Penn and No. 6 Mariana Torres both winning easily. At No. 5, Paige Eber,who won the first set, before dropping the second, rolled to a 6-2 win in the third.
The Cardinals face Samford this Saturday at 5 p.m. at the Bass Rudd Tennis Center. Louisville 4, Xavier 3 Singles
