Jacobo Named C-USA Co-Hitter of the Week

University of Louisville softball player Melissa Jacobo was named C-USA Co-hitter of the Week for the period ending March 10, 2002. Jacobo, a junior from Whittier, Calif. plays third base for the Cardinals. She batted .565 in eight games with three doubles, a triple, a home run and drove in 14 runs. She recorded the first grand slam in U of L softball's three year history in the Cards' 12-3 win over Drake. She currently leads the team in batting with a .467 average and has 25 RBI on the season. She also has a team-leading five home runs.
Louisville (10-12) is coming off of a first place finish at the Missouri Softball Classic. The Cardinals will open league play when they host East Carolina (14-7, 0-0) in a doubleheader Wednesday, March 13 at 1:00 p.m. at Ulmer Stadium.
