
Field hockey players earn regional honors

Two University of Louisville field hockey players, Pip Sanders and Joanie Frame, have been named to the 2002 STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I All-West Region teams.
Sanders, a senior midfielder from New South Wales, Australia (MacArthur Anglican HS), earned first team honors for the third consecutive year. She posted five goals and five assists on the season. Sanders, the Mid-American Conference Co-Player of the Year, is also a four-time All-MAC selection and two-time team Most Valuable Player. She started all 85 games during her career at Louisville, owns the school record for career assists with 35 and single season assists with 13 and is second in career points with 73.
Frame, a senior forward from Louisville, Ky. (Assumption HS), tied for the team lead with nine goals this season. She battled injury to play in 55 games throughout her career and accumulated 18 goals and 38 points. Frame is a two-time Mid-American Conference Academic team member.
The University of Louisville field hockey team finished the 2002 season with a 13-8 record (7-3 MAC). They were ranked No. 11 in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association ranking and were the regular season MAC co-champions.
