The University of Louisville field hockey team is ranked No. 7 in the 2001 STX/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll, released Sept. 25.
The Cardinals (7-1, 2-0 MAC) moved up three spots from their tenth-place showing the first issue of the rankings. U of L has won seven straight games since losing to fourth-ranked Michigan 1-0 in their season opener. The team's record includes wins over No. 9 Duke and No. 15 Ohio State. Louisville will play host to No. 12 Kent State (3-3, 0-1) on Friday, Sept. 28 at 4:00 p.m. and No. 14 Ohio University (5-1, 1-0) on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Trager Stadium.
