
Field Hockey Tops Central Michigan 3-1

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. - The tenth-ranked University of Louisville field hockey extended its winning streak to seven games with a 3-1 win over Mid-American Conference opponent Central Michigan on Sunday.
Louisville opened the scoring six minutes into the game, when Danielle Barr connected on a penalty corner with assists from Pip Sanders and Olivia Netzler.
The Chippewas responded when Katrina Woznek took advantage of a Central Michigan corner to net an unassisted goal to tie the game at 1-1.
U of L's Susan Sattazahn put the Cards up 2-1 when she nailed an unassisted goal ten minutes into the second half. Netzler provided an insurance goal with 11:40 remaining in the game to give Louisville a 3-1 lead.
Louisville goalkeeper Christy Hershey collected five saves, allowing one goal in 70 minutes played. Central Michigan's Janel Spero had eight stops and allowed three goals.
Central Michigan falls to 3-3 (1-1).
Louisville (7-1, 2-0) will continue MAC play when the Cards play host to No. 18 Kent State on Friday, Sept, 28 at 4:00 p.m. and No. 19 Ohio University Saturday, Sept. 29 at 1:00 p.m. at Trager Stadium.
NOTES: Louisville remains ranked at No. 10 in the STX/NFHCA Division I rankings (Sept. 11). This week's rankings were not released, due to last week's tragic events. The next rankings will be released on Tuesday, Sept. 25.
