
Men's Soccer Falls In Home Opener

Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's soccer team fell 2-1 to Vanderbilt tonight in Cardinal Stadium. The Cardinals fall to 0-2 on the season and Vanderbilt improves to 1-1.
At the start of the half, newcomer Simon Bird scored his first goal of the season in the 45th minute of play. Bird's goal was assisted by Devin Matthews and George Zabaneh.
The Commodores' Brian Lamping knotted the score in the 56th minute with an unassisted goal up the middle. With just 30 minutes remaining in the game, Vandy's Charlie White dribble the ball up the field to secure a Commodore win.
The teams remained scoreless at the half, while Louisville keeper Jeremy Morales collected three saves in the half.
The Cardinals will resume play at Akron on Sept. 7.
