LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The U of L field hockey team is currently ranked No. 10 in the STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I National Coaches Poll.
The Cardinals (4-1) have recorded wins over Saint Louis, Stanford, Virginia Commonwealth and Duke. Their only loss came to (currently) No. 4 Michigan, a 1-0 decision at Ann Arbor.
"We are thrilled to be recognized for our hard work," said U of L head coach Pam Bustin. "It's nice to have earned the respect of our colleagues and opponents. Hopefully this is something we can build on."
This marks the U of L field hockey program's first top 10 appearance in the STX/NFHCA poll. The Cardinals were ranked as high as No. 17 in the 2000 season.
The Cards are scheduled to travel to Amherst, Mass. to face the University of Massachusetts on Friday at 3 p.m. They will stay there and play No. 3 Maryland on Sunday at 1 p.m.
