Evansville, Ind. - The University of Louisville men's soccer team fell to Evansville 3-0 in the season opener. Evansville jumped on the board early scoring in the 13th minute off a penalty kick from Terence Gargantini. The penalty kick was a result of a foul by transfer Andy Tsartolias in the box.
Gargantini scored again in the 15th minute off a through ball from Casey Stevens and Ricardo Guedes. Evansville put the game out of reach early in the second half when Guedes scored the final goal in the 53rd minute.
The Cardinals had one shot on goal by newcomer Simon Bird. Senior keeper Jeremy Morales collected two saves to keep the Aces from scoring again.
Louisville will open up the home season on Sunday against Vanderbilt in Cardinal Park.
