LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Alumni ties run deep at the University of Louisville. On Tuesday, Arnold Palmer Golf Management announced the hiring of U of L Athletic Hall of Fame member and current PGA Tour player Ted Schulz as director of golf instruction at the Cardinal Club at the University of Louisville.
Tuesday's announcement precedes a much-anticipated October opening for the Cardinal Club. A Spencer Holt championship layout, the Cardinal Club is the latest offspring of four alumni-themed private golf clubs developed by a joint venture between University Clubs of America and Arnold Palmer Golf Management.
"I'm very pleased Ted will be joining the Cardinal Club," said U of L Director of Athletics Tom Jurich. "He's a first class individual and high energy person who I'm sure will create an atmosphere at the Cardinal Club as one of the finest in the state. He has always been of major importance to the Cardinal Athletic family and we look forward to building the Club together."
An accomplished member of the PGA Tour, Schulz brings with him a highly respected resume of skills and a deep-rooted connection to the University. Schulz played on the Louisville golf team from 1979 through 1982, and is a past winner of the Kentucky State Amateur Tournament (1983), and two-time winner of the Kentucky State Open (1984, 1988).
