LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville women's tennis brought a five-match losing streak to a halt with a hard-fought 5-4 win over Arkansas State at Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
The Cardinals got help from the middle of their lineup for the win with No. 3 singles player Kelly Whitler winning her singles match over Candice Meyer in three sets 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 and then combining forces with Katie McLaughlin for an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles.
"This was a great win for us, " said U of L head coach Meg Peavy. "There was very good tennis throughout all the matches."
Kelly Kiehna won her No. 5 singles match and Mariana Torres had a win at No. 6. Torres also paired with Paige Eber to win No. 3 singles 8-6.
The Cardinals now post a 5-15 record.
