Men's Tennis Falls to Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State men's tennis team used two straight-set wins and a come from behind decision to hand visiting Louisville a 4-0 defeat at Jesse Owens West Wednesday.
The Buckeyes opened the match with the No. 56 team in the nation by winning the No. 2 and 3 doubles bouts. Derek DeFalco and Bob Wellstein downed the duo of Cody Conley and Brent McCombe at No. 2, 8-6, while the OSU team of Phillip Metz and Chris Porter defeated the team of Oliver Cantrell and Jake Kirts, 8-5, at No. 3. With doubles point secure, both teams pulled their No. 1 doubles teams- Jonathon Scale and Andrew Carlson for OSU and Tvrtko Kujundzic and Joachim Lien for Louisville off the court to start the singles competition.
Only three singles matches were completed and all three ended with a Buckeye win. Carlson defeated Cantrell, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 4 to give OSU the 2-0 team lead. Paulo Carvalho fell to Adrian Bohane 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 and Ohio State's Phil Metz, ranked No. 55 in the nation, outlasted Kujundzic 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 at the top seed to clinch the match.
The win, the 13th-consecutive for the No. 16 Buckeyes, improved OSU's record to 15-1 overall and saw the Cardinals slip to 16-5 on the year.
Louisville will travel to Nashville, Tenn. to take on No. 41 Vanderbilt on March 31.
