SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The UC Santa Barbara women's tennis team edged Louisville 4-3 at UCSB's Rob Gym Courts Sunday. UCSB and Louisville split the singles wins but the Gauchos won the doubles point for the victory.

In singles for Louisville, Julie Penn defeated AnneMarie Lenze 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2, Kelly Whitler won over Shannon Wilkins 6-4, 7-5 at No. 3 and Mariana Torres defeated Shiho Fukushima 7-5, 6-0 at No. 6.

In doubles, U of L's Penn and Melisa San Martin teamed to defeat Gaby Andrade and Uzma Khan 8-4 at No. 2, but UCSB's Cindy Ammann and Wilkins defeated Katie McLaughlin and Whitler 8-6 at No. 1 and Lenze and Fukushima defeated Kelly Kiehna and Paige Eber 8-5 at No. 3.

Louisville falls to 4-13.
