
Women's Basketball Falls to Charlotte

Charlotte, NC - University of Louisville women's basketball team fell to Charlotte 58-52 in Halton Arena today. The loss snapped an eleven game win streak for the Cards.
Junior Kara Kessans led Louisville with 11 points and Shamika Ingram added 10 points. The Cards shot a dismal 31.3 percent from the field and a season-low 47.4 percent from the free throw line.
The Cards opened the second half with a 9-0 run but Charlotte came back to cut the lead to two with 11:07 remaining. The 49ers took the lead at the 8:38 mark, going up 42-39 off a jumper by Alicia Abernathy.
Louisville cut the lead to one with two free throws from Kessans with 1:28 remaining. The 49ers hit five of six from the line to seal the victory.
The Cards will travel to Cincinnati on Saturday, Feb. 24 to take on the Bearcats at 3:00 p.m.
