
Women Finish Season With Win At Cincinnati

Cincinnati, Ohi - University of Louisville women's basketball team defeated the Cincinnati Bearcats 70-57 in Shoemaker Arena. The Cards improve to 19-8 overall and 14-2 in Conference USA. Louisville's 14-2 conference record ties the conference record for most wins.
The Cards got off to a slow start, allowing Cincinnati to start the game on a 5-0 run. Freshman Sara Nord broke the scoring drought, scoring the first four points for Louisville. The Bearcats scored nine straight to go up 14-4.
Louisville responded with a 13-0 run to take the lead 17-14 with 10:34 remaining in the half. The Cards let the lead slip away 3:34 remaining when the Bearcats regained the lead and went into the half with a 27-24 lead.
The Bearcats came out of the locker room scoring an early three-point field goal. Both teams went on 5-0 scoring runs.
Nord regained the lead for Louisville with a three-pointer off of a pass from Janelle Antoine. Cincinnati's, Valerie King answered with another three-point goal to tie the game at 41. The Bearcats went up 49-46 with 8:22 left in the game. Louisville responded 16-0 run by the Cardinals to take the lead for good.
Louisville improved its shooting in the second half, shooting 58.6 percent from the field and 100 percent from the three-point line.
Nord recorded her sixth double-double of the year with 26 points and 10 boards. The defensive efforts from Kim Graham and Antoine held UC's leading scoring King to 6 of 23 from the field and 3 of 11 from behind the line.
The Cards will travel to Milwaukee for the Conference USA Tournament. Louisville has received a bye from the first round and will play on Saturday.
