
Women's Golf Leads The Edwin Watts Palmetto Field

Kiawah Island, SC - The University of Louisville women's golf team shot a new school record of 296 the first day of action at the Edwin Watts Palmetto Intercollegiate to lead the field. The Cardinals are followed by Tulane with a score of 305 and Memphis with a 305.
"We are better and stronger than we have been the last two seasons," said head coach Kelly Meyers. "We have had trouble coming but I told the team as long as we continue to work harder it will come around. And that is what happened today. We are taking this one step at a time and hope to finish out the fall season with a win."
Junior Jessica Kell shot her best round of her collegiate career with a 70 and currently leads the field.
" I played pretty steady today," said Kell. "It was my best round and I am pretty excited about it. I hope that I can continue to play well and help the team."
Cindy Pasechnik shot a 74 and is currently tied for fifth. Morgan Hapney shot a 75 and is tied for ninth place. Ali Wright shot a 77 is currently tied for 16th.
Rounding out the Cardinals is Erin Bell with a score of 85 . Lizzy Freemantle, competing as an individual, shot an 83.
The Cardinals will finish out the tournament tomorrow.
