LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville softball coach Sandy Pearsall has announced that Michelle Vasquez has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to continue her career at the University of Louisville in the fall of 2002.
Vasquez, a senior at Claremont High School in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., plays shortstop and second base. She is also a member of the Cal-Lite Gold softball team, one of the top U-18 teams in the nation. Her club softball team represented the United States in a visit to China to play some of the elite Chinese teams.
"Michelle Vasquez is a strong hitter and a sound defensive player who brings a great deal of experience," said Pearsall. "We look for her to make an immediate contribution her freshman year."
The U of L softball team will open up the 2002 season at the Florida State Tournament Feb. 8-10.
