
Hershey Earns Field Hockey All-American Honors

University of Louisville field hockey goalkeeper Christy Hershey was named to STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-American third team.
Hershey, a sophomore from Palmyra, Pa. was a first team All-MAC selection and a member of the STX/NFCHA All-American West Region second team last year. This season, Hershey led the conference with her 1.07 goals against average and eight shutouts. She also finished the season ranked eighth in the nation in that category.
"Christy has worked very hard throughout her whole career and it's great that she has been recognized as one of the top goalkeepers in the country," said U of L head coach Pam Bustin. "Hopefully this is the beginning of many national awards for our team."
The Cardinals (16-5, 7-3 MAC) finished the year at No. 14 in the NFHCA and NCAA rankings after spending the entire season in the top 20. They were ranked as high as sixth in the NCAA poll and seventh in the NFHCA poll.
