Field Hockey Set to Play Miami in MAC Tournament

LOUISVILLE, Ky, - The University of Louisville field hockey team received a No. 3 seed and will play sixth-seeded Miami University on Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Trager Stadium in the 2001 Mid-American Conference Field Hockey Championship hosted by U of L.
In addition to the 14th ranked U of L Cardinals, the tournament will also feature two other teams in the NCAA Division I Top 20: No. 9 Kent State and No. 13 Ohio University. Other participating teams include Ball State, Central Michigan and Miami University.
Fourth-seeded Central Michigan (7-10, 4-6) and No. 5 seed Ball State (5-12, 2-8) will play at noon on Friday. The winner of that game will face top-seeded Ohio (14-4, 9-1) at noon on Saturday.
Louisville and Miami are slated for the 2:30 Friday game. The winner of that game will play No. 2 seed Kent State (12-6, 8-2) on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
The championship game is slated for 1:00 p.m. Sunday. The winner of the tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament which begins Nov. 9.
Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for students per day (includes both games on Friday and Saturday). Children shorter than a field hockey stick receive free admission. Tournament passes will be sold for $12.
Fans are also encourage to bring a canned good to donate to Kentucky Harvest's "Million in a Month" campaign to feed the hungry. The U of L Athletic Department is helping the effort by collecting canned goods through Nov. 5.
