
Men's Soccer Falls to No. 8 UAB 2-1

Birmingham, Ala. - The University of Louisville men's soccer team fell 2-1 to No. 8 UAB tonight in Birmingham, Ala. The Cards fall to 3-6-1 on the season.
Flavio Monteiro scored in the 36th minute, after entering the game in the 23rd minute. Monteiro took a pass from Nnamdi Ngwe and scored on the left side of the goal.
That score gave UAB a 1-0 lead at the half. Ngwe scored at the 54:30 mark with an assist from Nelson Mata to put the Blazers up 2-0.
The Cardinals cut the score to 2-1 just 45 seconds later when freshman Richard Pell scored his first goal of the season on a header off a corner kick.
The Blazers were able to hold off the Cardinals with the play of goalkeeper Clint Baumstark. The freshman recorded six saves, including two in the final 10 minutes of the match.
UAB outshot Louisville 11-8. Cardinal keeper Jeremy Morales recorded two saves, all in the first half.
The Cards will host Drury Monday, Oct. 15 at 7:30 p.m. in Cardinal Park.
