The University of Louisville opened the doors to the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center in 1994, giving the Cardinals one of the finest on-campus tennis centers in the nation.
The facility, which currently features six indoor and eight outdoor courts, is named in honor of Lewis "Sonny" Bass and Mason Rudd, who each donated $150,000 toward its construction. The building also houses locker rooms, a conference room (Wimbledon Room) and offices to accompany its Deco-Turf surfaced courts.
The Bass-Rudd Tennis Center was awarded the 1995 Kentucky Tennis Association Facility of the Year and the United States Tennis Association College Facility of the Year. In 1998, the BRTC was selected as the host site for the first round of the NCAA men's tennis championship.
Aside from being the home for the Cardinals' intercollegiate tennis teams, U of L also offers memberships and daily court time for students, faculty, staff, alumni and other interested parties.
