Women's Tennis Opens Fall Season with Wins

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- - The University of Louisville women's tennis team defeated Indiana State 6-3, and Murray State 5-4 over the weekend.

Against Indiana State, Louisville's Kelly Whitler, Melisa San Martin and Stutti Smit each won singles points for the Cards at Nos. 3, 4 and 6 respectively. The doubles teams of McLaughlin and Julie Penn, Whitler and Paige Eber, and San Martin/Smit swept the doubles points for U of L.

In the Murray State match, Penn, Whitler, San Martin, Smit and Kelly Kiehna each secured singles wins, while San Martin and Smit won a doubles points for the Cards.

Louisville travels to Albuquerque, N.M. on Sept. 22 to compete in the New Mexico Invitational.
