
Men's Soccer Upsets No. 19 Akron 1-0

Louisville,Ky. - The University of Louisville men's soccer team defeated No. 19 Akron 1-0 Friday night in the second game of the Louisville Soccer Classic. The shutout was the third straight shutout for the Cardinals who improve to 4-2 and the Zips fall to 1-2-2.
Louisville took control of the game early scoring in the 15th minute. Senior Adam Ottembrajt took a through ball up the middle off an assist from Stuart Langrish.
Akron had a shot to tie it the 88th minute but Louisville goalkeeper Jeremy Morales collected the ball for his third straight shutout of the season. Morales had three saves in the game and improves his record to 4-2.
The Cardinals outshot Akron 10-4.
"This was a very good win for our team," said head coach Tony Colavecchia. "It was a great game against two good teams. We had a total team effort tonight. I thought we executed well in our attacking and our defense.
"We have a lot of experience and leadership on this team. I thought that Shawn Faria played like an All-American for us tonight. "
Louisville will play Central Florida on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. following the Akron/Evansville game at noon in Cardinal Park.
In the first game, Central Florida and Evansville tied 2-2 in double overtime.
