St. Louis, Mo. - The Louisville men's soccer shut out California 3-0 this afternoon in the third game of the Saint Louis Nike Classic. Freshman Forward Nathan Stevens scored his first collegiate goal and added an assist.
The Cardinals took control of the game early scoring in the 16th minute. Nathan Stevens scored on a header and found the back of the net off a cross from Stuart Langrish.
Junior James Cicarello scored the Cardinals second goal at the 72:33. Cicarello had an open net after passes from Stevens and TJ Newberg. Then Newberg found an open net off a pass from Cicarello in the 84th minute.
Louisville goalkeeper Jeremy Morales recorded two saves to post his second shutout of the season.
Louisville will return to the friendly confines of Cardinal Park to take on Xavier Tues. Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m.
