LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Kenzie Meisenburg and Kristi Rozelle, both of Tucson, Ariz., have signed national-letters-of-intent to continue their softball careers at the University of Louisville.
Meisenburg is playing third base at Central Arizona College, the No. 1 ranked junior college in the country. She was a second team All-Region as a freshman. This year, Meisenburg was named to the all-tournament team at the Aztec Classic Tournament in Tucson. She is hitting .411 with 55 steals, 59 runs scored and 26 RBI.
"Kenzie brings us much needed speed and the ability to help us in the infield," said Sandy Pearsall, U of L head coach. "She has experience from being on the national championship junior college team. As a former teammate of our Candi Padilla and Amy Pickering, she will acclimate to our program quickly."
Rozelle will be joining the squad as a true freshman. She plays for the Arizona Cats Gold Club and Canyon del Oro High School. She hit .325 last summer for the Cats with a .915 fielding average.
"Kristi is a good utility player who can play both the infield and outfield. She can hit from the right side and slap from the left," said Pearsall. "She plays for the strong under-18 Gold program in Arizona."
Meisenburg and Rozelle are the first of the second recruiting class of the Cardinals, which are in their first season at U of L.
