LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Southern Miss pitcher Courtney Blades had a perfect game going until the sixth inning and then allowed only one hit in the 4-0 shutout over Louisville in Conference USA softball action Sunday at Ulmer Stadium.
The Cardinals record moved to 24-14 and 3-3 in league play, while No. 10-ranked Southern Miss boosted its record to 34-9 and 4-1 in C-USA play.
"They are a team with great confidence in their pitcher and in their ability to score runs," said head coach Sandy Pearsall.
Louisville pitcher Tara McClure helped the Louisville cause, keeping Southern Miss scoreless until the sixth inning when they scored four runs, two unearned, as they capitalized on Louisville fielding miscues.
