Cardinals Upset UAB, Capture Conference USA Men's Tennis Championship

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The University of Louisville men's tennis team upset top-seeded UAB 4-3 to claim the 2000 BellSouth Mobility Conference USA Men's Tennis Championship Sunday afternoon at the Racquet Club in Hattiesburg, Miss.
The match went the distance after the teams were tied 3-3 and came down to the outcome of the No. 6 singles. In the final singles match of the championship, after losing the first set 3-6, Louisville's Brent McCombe defeated Paul Shovlin 6-4, 6-1 to clinch the win for the Cards.
With the win, Louisville gains an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
