DePaul Tops Cardinals In Softball Doubleheader

CHICAGO - The University of Louisville softball team lost both games of a doubleheader against DePaul on Sunday.
The first game remained scoreless until the bottom of the eleventh inning when DePaul's Shavaughne Desecki hit a solo home run to give the Blue Demon's the 1-0 win.
U of L pitcher Jessica Rak (12-7) took the loss. She threw 10 innings, giving up one run on five hits and striking out two.
Offensively, Nicole Sparks, Candi Padilla and Val Smith accounted for U of L's three hits.
In the second game of the doubleheader, DePaul took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Jenny Davis reached on a two-base Louisville error, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored the winning run on a double steal.
Louisville pitcher Mandy Rockwell (2-4) took the loss, giving up one unearned run on three hits and striking out two.
Sparks, Keola Calderon, Melissa Jacobo and Christina Soto each recorded a hit for the Cardinals.
U of L (24-18, 3-5) will play host to Evansville on Wednesday, April 11 at Ulmer Stadium.
