DePaul Captures 17th Annual Louisville Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The 17th annual Louisville Invitational Tournament closed Sunday with DePaul taking the "A" and "B" singles divisions and the "A" doubles division.
DePaul's Laura Taylor defeated East Tennessee State's Paty Vega 6-1, 7-6(4) in the finals to claim the "A" singles main draw. Cadi Hilpus of DePaul defeated Ingrid Habony of Saint Louis 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 to win the "B" singles main draw. In the "C" singles division Indiana State's Jen Earle won in three sets over Jayasree Kuruvilla of Saint Louis 6-7(4), 6-3, 7-5 in the finals. In the "D" singles division, Xavier's Julie Roth defeated teammate Lindsay Dressman 6-4, 6-1 in an intrasquad final.
In the "A" division of main draw doubles, Louisville's Kelly Ford and Kelly Marie Miller advanced to the semi-finals where they lost to DePaul's Kadi Hilpusa and Szilvia Kelemen 8-6. Hilpusa and Keleman went on to defeat East Tennessee State's Mami Inoue and Megan Edwards 8-6 in the championship match. In "B" main draw doubles, Xavier's Beth Abraham and Lindsay Dressman won over the Saint Louis team of Habony and Kuruvilla 8-4 in the finals.
In the finals of the "A" consolation bracket, Louisville's Kelly Marie Miller defeated Emily Senich of Xavier 5-7, 6-3, 6-4. In the finals of the "B" consolation bracket, Karla Zauara of UT-Martin won over Julie Brenner of UNC Charlotte in three sets 6-1, 3-6, 7-6(5). In the finals of the "C" consolation bracket, Louisville's Melisa San Martin defeated teammate Beckett Hoyt 7-6(6), 6-3. Louisville's Kelly Kiehna fell to Erin Kersten of Saint Louis in the finals of the "D" consolation bracket 6-1, 6-2.
