CHICAGO - Louisville's Val Smith has been named Conference USA Hitter of the Week for the period ending February 13. The junior infielder helped the Cardinals open their inaugural season with five wins and a second-place finish at the Metrodome Softball Classic over the weekend. Smith hit .407 (11-for-27) with three doubles, two RBI and six runs scored. In the Cardinals' upset over No. 24 Missouri, she went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in.
