Nebraska Tops Cardinals 2-0 At Capital Softball Classic

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The University of Louisville softball team lost to Nebraska 2-0 in the consolation round of the Sacramento State Capital Softball Tournament.
The game was scoreless until Nebraska put up a two-spot in the bottom of the third inning. Jenny Voss led off the inning with a walk, moved to second on Alice Brewer's sacrifice bunt, moved to third on a wild pitch. Jill Baker reached first on an error, moved to second on the wild pitch. The winning hit was a two-run single by Amber Burgess.
Offensively, the Cards were led by Keola Calderon who went 2-for-3. Kim Hilpp and Val Smith also got hits.
Nebraska's Jenny Voss (5-6) pitched a complete game shutout, allowing four hits and striking out seven. Louisville's Mandy Rockwell (2-3) took the loss.
Louisville (16-10) opens up play at Ulmer Stadium on Wednesday against Belmont College at 4:00 p.m.
