LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville head football coach John L. Smith announced this afternoon the following 22 student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to continue their educations and play football for the Cardinals.
This year's class is made up of 18 true freshmen-to-be and four junior college additions. This signing class joins three mid-year transfers -- Bobby Leffew of Boyle County (Ky.) High School, Michael Bowers of Butler (Kan.) Junior College and Robert Redd of Bowling Green (OH) State University -- already enrolled at U of L as newcomers to the Cardinals.
"I'm very proud of our staff and the work they've done over the past year recruiting these young men," said head coach John L. Smith. "Once again, we were very specific filling gaps in our program. This group is very athletic and should provide our fans with plenty of highlights over the next four or five years."
The Cardinals are coming off its second consecutive 7-5 campaign while taking part in back-to-back bowl games for the first time in school history.
