Women's Basketball Defeats East Tennessee State 63-47

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Senior All-America Candidate Jill Morton led the Lady Cards with 17 points in a 63-47 victory over East Tennessee State.
The Lady Cards came out ready to play with a 12-0 run to go ahead 14-2 at the 14:14 mark in the first half. They finished the half with a 35-22 lead. Morton had 11 at the half and sophomore Kara Kessans added eight.
Louisville's press held ETSU to just 33 percent from the field and 3 of 13 from three-point range. They also forced the Buccaneers into 19 turnovers, turning it into 21 points.
The Lady Cards also outrebounded ETSU 44- 34. Freshman Shanta Bowens led the Lady Cards with nine boards. Kessans hit 3 of 5 from three-point range and finished the game with 13 points. The Buccaneers' Erica Babb led them in scoring with 12 points.
"We've been starting off so slow the last few games, and I thought our kids were really focused today," said co-head coach Martin Clapp.
