CHICAGO - Louisville All-America candidate Jill Morton was named Conference USA Player of the Week today. Morton led Louisville in scoring in an 83-52 win over Southern Miss and a 75-73 win over No. 13 Tulane this weekend in Freedom Hall.
Morton scored 19 points and tied a career-high with six three-pointers against Southern Miss in just 19 minutes of play. Against Tulane, Morton scored 21 points and tied a career-high with seven rebounds.
Morton returned to full form after missing most of Louisville's last three games with a strained quadriceps muscle in her left leg. The Cardinals went 1-3 during that stretch.
For the week, Morton hit 52 percent from the field and 64.3 percent from the three-point line. She currently leads the conference in free throw and three-point field goal accuracy. She is also fourth in the nation in three-point field goal accuracy and 19th in free throw accuracy.
Morton is averaging 17.0 points per game and is hitting 41.2 percent from the field and 54.7 percent from the three-point line.
