No. 16 Ball State Tops Cardinal Field Hockey 7-2

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - All-American Sally Northcroft scored five goals to lead the sixteenth-ranked Ball State Cardinals in a 7-2 win over the University of Louisville in a Mid-American Conference game on Saturday.
Northcroft began the barrage early, scoring her first goal just two minutes into the game on a penalty corner and again four minutes later to give Ball State a 2-0 lead. U of L pulled within one when freshman Susan Sattazahn scored on an assist from junior Rebecca Clary with 27:27 remaining in the first half. Ball State was awarded a penalty stroke with 25:26 remaining in the first half and Northcroft converted to make the score 3-1 in favor of Ball State. Louisville threatened again when freshman Allison Barkley scored an unassisted goal to make the score 3-2. Northcroft scored with 3:01 remaining in the first half to give Ball State a 4-2 halftime lead.
Northcroft added her fifth and final goal on another Ball State penalty corner ten minutes into the second half to give the Cardinals a 5-2 lead. Betsy Quigg scored the other two goals for Ball State.
No. 16 Ball State improves their record to 7-3 (2-0). U of L (3-7) (0-2) travels to Miami (Ohio) on Sept. 29 to take on the RedHawks in a MAC matchup.
