Kent Defeats Louisville 6-0 In Field Hockey

KENT, Ohio - The Kent State University field hockey team evened its Mid-American Conference record as the Golden Flashes defeated the University of Louisville 6-0 Friday afternoon.
Freshman Helen Jerdan scored the lone goal of the first half off a penalty corner from Maggie Downey and Inge Corten to give Kent (9-5-2-2 MAC) a 1-0 halftime lead.
Jerdan scored four minutes into the second half off a corner from Downey and Corten. Two minutes later, Downey scored unassisted to give Kent a 3-0 lead. The Jerdan-Downey-Corten connection worked again with 25:34 left in the game. Unassisted goals by Meagan Class and Kristen Johnson gave Kent the 6-0 victory.
Colleen Finn recorded seven saves in the losing effort for Louisville.
The Cards (4-9, 1-3 MAC) return to action Saturday when they travel to Athens, Ohio, to take on Ohio University at 1 p.m.
