Field Hockey Falls To No. 13 Ball State

MUNCIE, Ind. - The University of Louisville field hockey team lost to thirteenth ranked Ball State 3-1 on Saturday at Muncie, Ind.
Ball State's Sally Northcroft opened up the scoring on a penalty corner with 14:13 remaining in the first half. The goal marked Northcroft's 49th of the season, making her the NCAA's all-time single-season leader.
After Northcroft's goal, the teams were scoreless until 10:08 into the second half when Ball State's Heather Weinhold scored on an assist from Kristy Ruschman to give BSU a 2-0 lead.
Louisville's Rebecca Clary connected on an assist from Lainey Habeeb to pull the Cards within one with 13:21 remaining in the game.
Ball State's Kerri Schoultz added an insurance goal with 4:30 remaining in the game.
Louisville goalie Colleen Finn recorded nine saves in the game.
U of L finishes the regular season 5-15, 1-9 in the Mid-American Conference. In 1999, they improved their record by four, and increased their scoring output by 10 goals.
